This deeply scented Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir displays aromas of dried cherries, raspberry, pomegranate, and cinnamon. Fresh fruit bursts on the palate, adding notes of black plum, red cherry and vanilla. The balance is seamless from entry to finish and invites a host of food pairings, from vegetable dishes to roasted meats to spicier fare.

A main focus for William Knuttel Winery is on Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and related Pinot varieties. From my earliest years as winemaker at Saintsbury I have experimented with different clones and winemaking styles, and this Sonoma Coast bottling is a blend of many of those smaller lots, representing different vineyards, clones and winemaking techniques. The art of blending is one of my favorite pursuits in winemaking, and this Pinot Noir is an excellent example of what can be achieved, having been crafted after what seems like endless rounds of blend trials!

Vineyard Notes Average Yield: 3.6 tons/acre
Production Notes Individual lots were put down to French oak immediately after pressing, mainly to Francois Freres, Demptos and custom-crafted Roberts barrels. The blend was assembled after a year in oak, put back to barrel for an additional seven months, then bottled unfined.
